Is it his right to do so? Of course.

Should he be hated for that? Absolutely.

So how did we get to a point that we are required to play the national anthem before each game?

It makes sense if it was on the Veterans Day. Or you're playing at one of the Service Academies (Army, Navy or Air Force)

Otherwise, we should just play ball.
