“Nancy Pelosi would never have tolerated that type of dissent in her party.”

So the question is in a “free” republic, should political parties be dictatorial or should representatives of the people be independent actors particularly if their constituents disagree with the party line.

That is a very good question.

IMO a political party should be disciplined enough to accomplish the policies they & their constituents supposedly favor. This usually only happens if the executive and legislative branches are the same party.

Yet, I think it’s good for parties to have vigorous debates about issues and policies both within the party & against the other party.

I don’t want a “rubber stamp” dictatorial party, but I’m also sick of ‘maverick’ Republicans and their stupid shtick.
