Thank you kindly 😊
After flying extensivly for business in 2018, 2019, 2020, I got Covid in March 2020 after a 10 hour layover at LAX, a 6 hour layover at SLC, and sandwiched between 2 “weight-advantaged” individuals for SLC - ORD who sweated, coughed, and puked the entire flight, I was done.
If I drive, I can put on an audiobook and enjoy myself. If I fly, it’s many many hours of misery. Plus I don’t have to deal with the reduced safety and training standards that airlines have accepted, don’t have to deal with airline schedules (it’s amazingly cool to ignore the people frantically leaving the meeting to get their flights), and I don’t have to jump through hoops to have a pistol. The only downside is a few extra hours in the car but those are offset by not having to deal with TSA or flight attendants explaining how seat belts work or being sandwiched between sweaty people who should have bought two seats. At this point, I don’t ever plan to fly again domestically.
My wife and I flew to Florida. On our way home, I got busted by TSA for having sunscreen lotion in my carry on bag. But they missed a cigar cutter and two pocket knives in my wife’s purse. Another trip, the TSA agent had a fit over a flashlight in my carry on. OMG, they disassembled it, swabbed it for something asked me what it was and gave me a lot of crap over an illumination device.
I am so confident in their ability to catch terrorists.
Depends on where you are from. Texas state driver's licenses have qualified for Real ID since 2016.
From the feds: "Yes. All states, the District of Columbia, and the 5 territories are REAL ID compliant and issuing REAL ID compliant driver’s licenses and IDs."
State Department Enhanced IDs valid only for land or sea travel to Mexico and Canada, not for domestic flights
Sounds like they are talking about passport cards, which ARE valid as Real ID for domestic air travel
So generally speaking disregard this fake news site.
But if you are an illegal you don’t need it. Go anywhere you want unmolested.
That, along with proof of residency (I think that's also important for voting) is the essence of "Real-ID".
Probably directs your ballot to the Round File, lol
Not quite...this alien (legal) was detained at a major US airport; held for one hour in a pen with a real 'motley crew' - passport nowhere insight...because she had two legal documents and Immigration could not cope with that.
Some printing machines are going to be really busy producing documents for several million illegals.
Oh no, not for me. Others will embrace their Overlords, and welcome it with praise and love. I won’t get the chip, it is eternal death.
But the purpose of Real ID is not to secure the sanctity of our elections. And it will not be used for that.
It is to track and monitor American citizens who have committed no crimes.
KEY difference.
Not as simple as you imply. All states may issue compliant licences. Not all states’ licenses are compliant. The lazier, sucky states like MN couldn’t meet the original guidelines and 2023 deadline. I believe MN has three variants.
One god-daughter, a very accomplished trauma surgeon at a Level 1 center, keeps her passport handy until her next-mandated MN drvers license renewal. Trained in Michigan but practicing in MN, she just feels it is not worth her trouble to comply with the Real ID mandates right now.
Her out-of-state puddle jumper hops are down to less than 1/month.

I understand that you believe this to be true.
I don’t plan on flying anywhere either, but just the fact that the bureaucracy is so overbearing just irks me.
Rule-followers get punished while criminals roam free.
“Papers, please!”
The security theater would be funny except everyone knows that if TSA decides to hook you up with a criminal charge for trying to get sunscreen or a nail file on a plane, your life will be miserable.
how about just getting a US Passport - they make a ‘passport card’
Most States have already made their "traditional state-issued IDs" compliant with the Real-ID legislation. There appears to be some fear-mongering going on here.
