The idea of jury instructions has always been hilarious to me. I don't need a judge telling me what I can and can't consider. Unlike many judges, I have common sense, and I'll consider what I want to consider and gather as much information as I feel necessary, whether or not a judge wants me to know about it.

So the judge needs to define the words in the law?

The Consitiution was written for Me to be able to read and follow.

A lot of laws written that way too.

I’m not so sure about new laws, written by lawyers for only lawyers to ‘interpret’.

But I should be able to read the law, and judge from that.

PS side story.
One jury had a farmer on it. During deliberations he pointed out that he was familiar with the crime location and certain insect activity that he knew about did not support the prosecution. (Vague, I know, I forgot the details)

Not guilty verdict was rejected when it came out that he ‘added extra information’. New trial followed I think.
