To me it sounds like the prosecutor already knows the verdict.
He said, “The RACE could not have been closer,” meaning the election. So that is why he claims President Trump was so worried about the story breaking.
That’s not what I saw. Will ask a friend to help me post the screen capture.
People at the trial have said half the jury pool look done with the prosecution. If we get acquittal, it’s going to be unreal. I think the prosecution wants a hung jury, since they’ll be able to keep him in court until the election.
And even if Steinglass meant the election, that’s NOT what he said. Did I photoshop the image? Heck, I had to call in help to just post it.
Maybe a slip of the tongue, but again he said, “the CASE could not have been closer.”
Or is Fox News lying?
Also, does not matter. Just putting the very idea of “could not have been closer” into the jury’s mind is something a prosecutor worth their salt should never have done.

OK, gotta admit your and ABC’s interpretation might be correct. But still a blunder. Why use “race” when he could have used “election,” a word not easily confused with “case”?
Well I stink at taking pictures of my TV screen using my mobile phone, let alone posting/sharing them. Why I’m not a professional photographer — and had to call in a friend.
But that was Fox. Pretty much all I watch for news. (Gotta admit CNN is getting better.) Look at the pic — those are Fox colors.
And don’t have context. Just looking at the stuff Fox pops up on the right side of their broadcast.
I’ve had Fox on all day and missed that. Race is a fine word to use, but easily misunderstood and grabbed as a screen shot if one ignores the context.
