This has nothing to do with climate change. Mexico City has been sinking for decades...because they are drawing ground water far faster than replacement rate. The problem has only been exacerbated by increasing population density with no commensurate increase in water supply.

I also remember when they had a major earthquake there a lot of years ago. Mexico City sustained major damage because it was built basically on sandy soil.

This is pretty strange to me. Mexico City was built over the capital of the Aztec empire which was in the center of a large lake.
