Well, if it were to happen, Conservatives vs. Liberals it would be quite different than during the 1861 war. I can’t really wrap my head around the devastation that could occur. Image husbands and wives, sons, daughters relatives, friends, neighbors all trying to kill or imprison each other. Big difference than one part of the country against another. Yes, there were some brothers and cousins on each side during the Civil war, but nothing like what could happen. I just don’t see it happening, although something has to give, the country has gone to hell during pres. bribeme.
If our next civil war is ideological (political, religious, philosophical), it will more closely resemble the English, Spanish, and Russian civil wars. All very bloody affairs.
Unlike most countries, even ones with federal system like Germany and Canada, the states have more authority including independent tax sources and some control over military units of the National Guard. An Albertan dissatisfied with leftist Canadian policies has to emigrate to escape; a New Yorker dissatisfied with leftist policies in his state can easily move to another state.
You can see why the Left is working in all 50 states to gain control of city halls, county courthouses, and state houses. The Democrats, who are essentially Communists, recognize that to turn this country into a 21st Century Soviet Union, they must wrest financial and police power from patriotic Americans.

It’s still one demographic against another, but now it’s big-city vs. rural & small-town.
