Vivaldi was a clergyman who lived in Venice when it was an independent state with an empire. Because it was a seafaring town with a lot of sailors passing through impregnating the local women, a lot of orphan children needed to be looked after.

Vivaldi organized them into choruses and orchestras as part of their education. He wrote awesome music for them to perform. The Four Seasons is probably his most famous work.
