The modern American justice system is mostly dependent on who the judge is who hears the case. I've been saying that for about 3 decades. It's obvious once you've seen it over and over again, especially with these ridiculous cases.
We are governed by insane/corrupt men, not laws.

Don't forget that we have insane, corrupt men writing the laws, and other insane corrupt men enforcing the laws.
Biden and Fani/Bragg and the Congress can give any judge a run for his money.

The Napoleonic code system is designed to minimize the influence of the trial judge. In the old common law system, the jury had greater power to check the judge which has now been lost. The prerogative writs were also actually employed by the higher courts to check mischief by the lower court judges, who could also be made to pay the cost of those proceedings as it was not good behavior. That has also been lost.
