It probably does. No sarcasm.
But before the bridge crash, such stories were ignored. Now the media is suddenly interested in every shipping mishap, not matter how minor.
It's kind of like how, after the plane door came off, every Boeing defect is being reported.
I grew up not far from the Mississippi river. I’ve heard of barges hitting bridges. I’ve heard of flood waters stopping traffic. I’ve heard of drunken “teens” burning a railroad tressel that crashed into the river and blocked traffic for weeks. Year after year, a certain number of people will drown in the river. Can’t recall a barge coming loose from its mooring seemingly by accident and running aground, let alone 26 of them. Maybe it happens, but I can’t remember.
