I have a friend of a friend who’s an armorer in Hollywood. There’s been a couple times he set the scope correctly, but the director wanted it changed because backwards “looked better to the camera”. Armorer reversed the scope because the Director’s an idiot but the armorer wants a paycheck.

Okay, this makes a little sense. I saw a scope put on a rifle backwards in The Walking Dead and made a meme about it, having the shooter saying "Wow! These zombies are SO TINY!"

I think maybe he is such a great shot he justed needed to crank up the difficulty level in practice.

Back in olden times, the Navy picked the Village People’s song “In The Navy” for a recruiting ad, without realizing that it was a gay group singing about the joys of an all-male navy.

Well, times have changed, and the Navy might well reconsider bringing that song back for another try.

It is backwards. That’s either an Ascent or a Credo, both of which have that heavy, textured section at one end. That’s the eyepiece adjustment. The narrow end (closest to the operator in the pic) is indeed the “front” of the scope.

I sure did. Maybe this guy is the boss. Maybe he’s the XO (commander rank). Or maybe the camera crew told him to put that hat on to make the picture look more impressive.

As to the last possibility, being out of uniform would have been unthinkable in the old days. It’s Biden’s navy now. Any crazy thing is possible.

It's a VCOG- note the the integrated mount (no rings!) and how long the grip splines are on the adjustment ring compared to the Ascent or Credo. Probably a 1-8x judging by the flare on the objective end. And yup, it's definitely on backwards. Not to mention the closed caps. Would love to know the story here- leaning toward some kind of joke like others are suspecting.

You can see the brass, so he’s firing it rapidly since there are 2 cases in the air close together.

Seems like it would have to be a joke. But it’s also hard to image a commander participating in something like this.
