Our gas pickup is for the times: 1) we need 2 cars for the day (to split up to run separate errands), and 2) for the times an EV won't do (i.e. pickup chores, if we go on a trip with few charging options, or if I go on a trip without my wife since she's the one who wants to stop every 200 miles and walk around for 10-15 minutes). Having one of each car type gives us options to handle that day's needs with the most efficient car type for that day.

The Dims try to make every decision a polar decision (either this or that, not both, either EV or gas car, not both, etc.). Often times the best option is option C: some of both.
