To: Tell It Right
Except for that problem of me not being able to produce my own gasoline like I can produce my own power with solar.

Gasoline . . . no. Bio-diesel, YES!

I’m interested how many acres of soybeans do you have and how many gallons of biodiesel per acre you are getting. Where do you source your methanol and calcium oxide from? What’s the cost per gallon not including your sweat equity?

I have 15,000 watts of commercial panels about to add another 10,000 watts worth on the steel building roofline. In the summer time it’s not uncommon to see 90+kWh of output from the system. My new to me model 3 takes 180 watt hours per mile A.C.Blasting in mixed exurban/urban driving. It has a 75kWh pack that will never see below 50% state of charge. So at most I need 45kWh that accounts for the loss of going DC to AC 240v back to DC. I’ll never pay for a single kWh as my 15kw system paid itself off a couple of years ago. The cost to me is the loss of sellable electricity to the grid at peak time vs putting it in my Tesla. My system can go grid free with a flip of a breaker too. That was the whole point of the system the Tesla is just gravy now. The dotgovs can turn off gas pumps in hours they cannot turn off the sun and that to me is priceless.
