I miss the days when American had a “Get it done” attitude.
For example, by 1943 it only took on average 39 days to build a Liberty Ship. Now it would take 39 weeks just to decide if the word “liberty” is racist or not.
It took 5 years to build the Hoover Dam, the first of its kind and only 13½ Months to build the Empire State Building. Both built during the depression and both still standing. It took 4½ years during the early 30’s to build the Golden Gate Bridge from scratch. So, yes, there was time in this country when we got things done.
Same here.
Along a popular drive near Fernandina beach Florida, they have been working on replacing a short bridge over a tidal area now for SIX years.
Not a draw bridge. Not an elevated roadway. Just a squat, little two lane bridge. Six years and it’s still not finished.
