I would guess that the F-16 pilot never saw the fireball.
As soon as the Aim-120 went active, the F-16 pilot would make a 9g break turn to egress heading (270 degrees).

I believe UKF are successfully targeting the interlinking pipes, which cause the fires to spread.
Curious, the idea of moving Russian assets further from the front may help protect them from direct fire on their bases, but I would assume to drop FABs they still need to get close to the front and so still would be in range of AIMs?
Additionally you are talking more fuel, and more hours on airframes
