Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Armata tanks made Shoigu laugh

A few weeks ago, Vladimir Putin ordered T-14 Armata tanks to be sent to the front. The statement was made at one of the meetings with the military. When the president asked the other day how things were going, Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov, who now controls the group in Ukraine, replied that “in the process.”

After the meeting, Gerasimov phoned Shoigu and asked how things really stood. Shoigu laughed in response and said: “Otherwise you don’t know. They’re not there, damn it. They’re not coming.”

Gerasimov knew about the situation, but, as it turned out, the Russian troops now have 4 [ !! ] combat-ready vehicles, but in fact the military is not even really familiar with them. Shoigu said that the tanks would be sent to the front, but asked to keep them somewhere in the rear.

Moreover, Shoigu demanded that photos of tanks be taken at different points on the front in order to show Putin and make it appear that there were at least dozens of such tanks.

Kremlin snuff box, 03/05/24
https://t.me/s/kremlin_secrets

Sensation! The Armata tanks did not reach the front. Did you all hear? Chemezov himself said!

Friends, the strong reaction to the words of Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov regarding the Armata tanks is sincerely surprising. Let us remember that he said: “Armata”, in general, is a little expensive. In terms of functionality, it is, of course, much superior to existing tanks, but it is too expensive, so the army is unlikely to use it now. It’s easier for them to buy the same T-90s.”

Chemezov publicly admitted that there are no Armata tanks in the army, at least in the Northern Military District zone. Now let’s watch our hands. We raised this topic several times last year. They did this deliberately, knowing that the President was being presented with completely different information.

Here are quotes from our last year’s posts. First - January 22, 2023:
A few weeks ago, Vladimir Putin ordered T-14 Armata tanks to be sent to the front. The statement was made at one of the meetings with the military. When the president asked the other day how things were going, Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov, who now controls the group in Ukraine, replied that “in the process.”

After the meeting, Gerasimov phoned Shoigu and asked how things really stood. Shoigu laughed in response and said: “Otherwise you don’t know. They’re not there, damn it. They’re not coming.”

Second post, March 28, 2023:
Since the beginning of the year, the domestic military industry has managed to produce 0 (zero) Armata tanks. In general, there are several units at the front and in the rear, but they are not used in battle. At the same time, the media constantly talk about how effective this tank is and how it is better than any Western analogues. Perhaps this is because it was not used at all in the war? [ 🤣 ]

Third post, August 15, 2023:
The situation with tanks in the army is, to put it mildly, sad. In March, we wrote that for three months, not a single one of the T-14 Armata tanks promised to Shoigu was put on the balance sheet of the Russian Armed Forces.

At the same time, the Minister of Defense himself avoids answering the question, what about the promised miracle of technology and when will the Armatas finally reach the front line? The Ministry of Defense has been tasked with creating a picture of how the heroic Armata crews fight on the front line. We expect new “premieres” in the near future.

And now, in the third year of the Northern Military District, it turns out that the Armata tank essentially exists individually and the army cannot use it in combat. And how much pathos there was!

How much money was stolen! The President (and all of us) have been deceived for years. Obviously, in the context of the active use of FPV drones, any tank is a good target for an experienced drone operator, but Chemezov’s words sound something like this: “We would have them wow! It’s a pity that we can’t.”

The history of the Armata tank is the history of a big soap bubble. Alas, there are enough such bubbles in our military industry. I wonder which one will burst next. [ 🤣 ]

🤬 We have lost another ship

Unfortunately, we received confirmation that on the night of March 5, enemy drones attacked the Project 22160 patrol ship Sergei Kotov. Alas, the ship sank.

The attack took place near Kerch. We don’t have many details at this point. It is known that part of the crew managed to escape, but 19 sailors are considered missing. The search operation was complicated by the fact that the ship was hit in the dark.

It is worth noting that “Sergey Kotov” was launched in Kerch in January 2021, that is, it was a new patrol ship. But, unfortunately, they did not have time to detect Ukrainian drones approaching it. And this is a problem for our fleet, which we have written about more than once [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/3537 ]

Drones will not be able to completely replace the fleet, but they allow the enemy to control part of the Black Sea and attack our ships off the coast of Crimea.

17 people died on the ship “Sergei Kotov”.

According to our sources in the Black Sea Fleet, this figure has been accurately confirmed, the bodies of the dead have been found. Another 14 people are considered missing.

“We can’t do anything with these drones (which hit the patrol ship - ed.). More and more voices are being heard in favor of completely removing the Black Sea Fleet from Crimea and moving it to Novorossiysk. It’s more difficult to get our ships there,” said another source at the Black Sea Fleet.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense did not answer our question about how we are going to fight the weapons with which the enemy sinks our ships.

Happy memory to all those who died.

The further they advance the longer their supply lines become, the further they advance the further they are away from airfields to support their bombing campaign. This is a bit of making lemonade out of lemons as Ukrainians are losing territory and equipment and manpower, but the fact remains every meter taken has resulted in massive loses for Russia.
They seem to be able to maintain this attrition but there is a limit.

Question as always, will Ukraine be able to capitalize on this? I think the answer is yes if they get the military support they need and that is a big if

There’s nothing Russia can do but retreat to Novorossiysk.

It is interesting that in the last three known cases of naval kamikaze drone attacks on the Russian fleet, in each case the drones tried to attack the same place on the ship’s hull that had previously been damaged by the previous drone detonation. Which is possibly one of the tactics for naval drone strikes against ships.

"The crew survived", oh yes, they're getting instructions from the Moskva crew right now. No laughing matter.

So, the ruzzian ships need "turret mounts". Perhaps, something like a Phalanx.

“The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against two Russian military officers for alleged war crimes linked to missile strikes against Ukraine’s electric infrastructure.

They were charged for alleged crimes committed between October 2022 until and March 2023, when Ukraine’s power plants and sub-stations faced a fierce campaign of air strikes. The Hague-based court issued warrants against Sergei Ivanovich Kobylash, the then commander of Russia’s long-range aviation forces, and commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Nikolayevich Sokolov, it said in a statement on Tuesday.”

I believe that South Korea also builds ice hardened Arctic ships, as well as the Finns.

I wonder if the early explosions were big enough to concuss and deafen the ships crews.

Russia is a Mafiatocracy.

Putin’s mafia Capos are expanding and militarizing their crews, to a degree that puts Mexican drug cartels to shame.

Newsweek reports (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/putin-allies-quietly-gathering-private-armies/ar-BB1jmZQs?cvid=09ac05dba2574ef1a0f24147a496e8ac&ei=4 ):

Putin Allies Quietly Gathering Private Armies

“Russian oligarchs Arkady and Boris Rotenberg have decided to create a private army, similar to Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner Group, consisting of soccer hooligans, a local investigative site reported.

The Rotenberg brothers, childhood friends and close allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin, were introduced to the Española battalion, a paramilitary group of far-right soccer fans, by Viktor Shendrik, the head of the security service of the Russian Railways, who sponsors the group.

“Española was created by fans, mostly of Spartak [soccer club]. Then the Rotenbergs came in with the idea of taking a PMC [private military company] under their own control,” one source told Important Stories, an independent Russian publication. “A lot of major companies are creating their own private armies right now, and the brothers wanted to create their own private army on the basis of Española.”

Russian companies and state agencies have financed dozens of pseudo-mercenary groups that are now fighting in Ukraine.”

As we saw with Wagner, private armies battle hardened in Ukraine, can be quickly re-purposed for battle in Russia...

...Former U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling warned in March 2023 that private military groups in Russia would “contribute to chaos” should Putin’s government collapse.

Hertling made the remarks on X, formerly Twitter, while responding to Sergej Sumlenny, an expert on Eastern Europe, who posted: “Reports in Russian social media appear, that companies like Gazprom, Rosneft and other start their own private military companies.”

“The Russian elites prepare for a scenario of military defeat of Russia and vacuum of power after that,” Sumlenny added.”

"I believe that South Korea also builds ice hardened Arctic ships, as well as the Finns."

Class 1 ships are only built by Russia and maybe by the Fins. SK I have no info - but is very doubtful their ships are Class 1. I believe all the Class 1s are nuclear powered.

Ice hardened means nothing - there are several rating systems Polar Class is one Baltic Class is another.

Russia has quite a few Class 1 nuclear powered breakers - the newer ones have 2 reactors.

The trouble with the US Coast Guard is they want ship hull design to do double duty - Arctic and Antarctic, which mean they have to be able to safely make the long transit between, so the hull is a compromise.

Then they require they be armed, but have not as far as I know settled on any one system.

Like too many things lately, they have made a mess of the requirements and likely will end up with badly compromised ships

Can seawis depress low enough to get drones on sea close in?
Going to have to rethink ship defense as well as a lot of other tactics

For the Russians maybe self closing hatches

Have often wondered how long the rich in Russia and China would sit by on the destruction of their wealth.

Doubt many if any out Russia or China over their own wealth, comfort and power.

There is a reason there are not retirement homes for dictators
