“Russia’s Anti-Satellite Nuke Could Leave Lower Orbit Unusable”

The ultimate in GPS jamming. Maybe meant to deter NATO from attacking, or to disrupt a NATO satellite dependent force, in the event of war.

The ultimate in GPS jamming.

My hope/guess is that we (US/NATO) have a ground based system that would help align GPS aided INS systems in the event that GPS becomes unusable.

An AI-piloted F-16 flew the Air Force’s top leader in a dogfight

Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall rode along as the AI-flown F-16 pulled 5G-maneuvers during a simulated air-to-air dogfight over Edwards Air Force Base.

Russia not weakened enough yet, for the full Versailles Treaty treatment...

“US is in talks with close partners to lead a group of allies that would give as much as $50 billion in aid to Ukraine”

OilPrice.com reports:

“Officials from the G7 group of the world’s most industrialized nations are privately admitting that an all-out seizure of frozen Russian assets is no longer on the table, the Financial Times reported on Friday...

...G7 officials are privately ruling out the idea of outright asset seizure and are exploring other “ways of extracting funding from the frozen assets,” according to the financial newspaper.

Billions of U.S. dollars and euros of Russian central bank assets have been frozen at various Western banks, mostly in the G7 countries, as well as in Belgium and Switzerland...

...While the U.S. has signaled it could be willing to explore Russian asset seizures, the EU and many of its members – including G7 members Germany, France, and Italy – are very wary of this approach. The EU member states are concerned that anything appearing or close to asset seizure could lead to retaliatory moves from Russia, according to the FT.

The U.S. is looking to resolve the stalemate by proposing the release of around $50 billion of funding for Ukraine via loans or bonds that would be secured against future profits from the frozen assets...

The G7 leaders are expected to discuss the frozen Russian assets at their summit in Italy in June...

...“It is not certain that the benefits of confiscating the frozen Russian assets to the G7 will outweigh the costs it will bear, (Creon) Butler said, adding that “Financing support for Ukraine through normal public expenditure, at least for the time being, is likely to be the better option.”

Yes and this will be a mere TEST of the system

Also no more manned space flight as a result of one (1) test.

How many tests will it take to perfect the system?

This is the most serious thing ever - it could potentially block ANY access to space for any reason for centuries.

But then who will worry about that as Russia is hit with many many megatons of nukes.

Essentially any such “test” is the opening shot in an all out nuclear exchange.

...and that could mean that we would be stuck living on the same planet as Russia...

Only some of us - the rest will be dead of blast effects (the lucky ones), starvation, disease, radiation poisoning.

Demilitarization, desatanization and denazification of RuZZia continues.

Second Army of the Universe.

"'While Russia remains a serious battlefield threat, their ability to replace lost armored vehicles is limited. A vivid example is the motorcycle abandoned during the assault in the Bilohorivka area, where a pallet was used as a sidecar to transport assault infantry"

Realistically though, even if Russia pumped up the Van Allen Belts with a nuke, and electromagnetically swatted a bunch of satellites out of orbit, I would expect launches to resume shortly afterward.

Satellites would mostly fall out of orbit or be stunned senseless, not explode into persistent debris fields, polluting their orbital slots. Radiation hardened satellites (such as those constellations designed for nuclear warfighting, like DSCS and SBIRS), would continue to operate.

Radiation hardening has been expanding into commercial satellites as well. Sunspot activity routinely induces fluctuations in the Van Allen belts. It is a fundamental hazard to spaceflight, like weather on Earth.

With no air in space, blast waves are not propagated. Burst radiation from nuclear detonations are diluted by the vast distances of near-Earth space, by the square of the distance. There would be little direct effect on satellites that were not very close to a detonation.

(Russian orbital nuke) “The ultimate in GPS jamming.”

...simultaneously, the ultimate in (Russia’s own) GLOSNASS jamming.

Also, GPS satellites are not the only military significant satellites.

IMHO, photo & IR recon satellites are critical for locating and identifying naval surface combatants.

Without these satellites, the U.S. Navy gains a huge tactical advantage.

But that’s just the first TEST, not the real proven weapon. There will be many tests before its is perfected.

The point you are missing here is ALL manned space flight will be ended. And as you said we will be trapped on a rock with Russia, relegated back to LORAN navigation. More reason to completely destroy the degenerate country, utterly ... to the point it of nonexistence.

if Russia pumped up the Van Allen Belts

LEO is below the first Van Allen Belt.
