I doubt it. The pattern of failure do not reflect that. You would have whole regions affected.

Looks like the biggest affect is in Major cities in some of the South East region.

It could be a cyber attack. Or it could be a failure of one of the backbone serves.

“Cell Service Outages Reported Across US”

I haven’t seen any reports on X either and normally for something such as a widespread outage you would see multiple reports of people with cell service issues.

OMG! Pleeeeeze. It’s crisis time. Crisis time for those perpetually doing something on their phone.

Mindless zombies crossing streets in heavy traffic that are clueless as to who’s about to run them over. People driving cars perpetually texting, keeping stopped at green lights and running red lights. Kids having a mental breakdown because no one has texted them in the last 10 minutes.

If the ChiComs or Ruskies EMP’d us knocking out all cell communications, trust me, it would be the absolute last of my worries.

And AT&T is trying to eliminate their landline service in Kalifornia. That’s a terrible idea! Providing the phone is a hardwired unit that plugs directly into a wall mount phone Jack, the phone continues to work when the electric power goes down. Obviously much more reliable than a wireless home phone or cell phone.

Depends, many people have already ditched their landlines, AT&T is probably getting close to losing money on landlines, have to maintain and service something that is dying a slow death anyway.

The issue of reliability is debatable, if the problems today are more toward the core of AT&T’s network, cell and wired phone service could be down, at some point all calls are routed over AT&T’s network and if that’s down, nothing is working.

I would not be worried about when the service would be restored, I would be worried about what would be coming next,

Yes, exactly.

We know that in just the past 12 months or so ~60,000 military age Chinese nationals have entered through the southern border, along with an unknown but large number of men from the middle east. Not all of those guys came here to pick grapes.

Job one before starting some trouble would be to take out coms., though if I was going to pick a fight with a civilian population, I wouldn't start with Texas and Florida, which is where most of the outages have been reported.

Probably nothing, maybe a test, but definitely a warning to anyone paying attention.

OK, gonna take my tin-foil hat off for a while, but I'm still gonna go out and buy more ammo at lunch.

I don’t know what is causing the outages, it’s strange, my wife and I both are on AT&T, I’m working fine, she’s down.

Tin foil hat or not, in this day and age, there is no cost to being vigilant even if the issue is nothing to be concerned about, we’ve been warned a major cyber-attack would happen, taking down comms would be one way to create chaos.
