They could substitute Jill for Joe--the Biden/Harris campaign signs could still be used. But if they don't think the country wants an all-female ticket, put in Hunter Biden. He doesn't have dementia, he's a famous artist, he has lots of international business experience, he's a loving father. What's not to like?

The DNC's worst case scenario is if Joe dies suddenly or becomes so incoherent they can't run him. If he dies, they are stuck with Kamala as the incumbent President and therefore as their nominee. If he becomes totally incoherent they can use the 25th amendment but that just makes Kamala Acting President, not actually the President, but then they still have a problem of how to deny her the nomination.
