Is there a struggle for power in Kyiv? What we managed to learn about Zelensky’s dismissal of General Zaluzhny

Interesting processes are taking place in Ukraine, the depth of which neither we nor Kyiv’s Western allies fully know. The day before, information appeared that Vladimir Zelensky had fired General Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

There have been rumors about the desire to carry out such a personnel rotation for a long time, but with the accumulation of problems at the front and the prolongation of the war, such rumors have become more numerous in telegram channels and the media. This time the situation seemed close to the truth.

In any case, several large telegram channels and online publications immediately wrote that Zaluzhny was fired from his position. There were very few details. We practically do not have our own reliable sources in Kyiv, so we could neither confirm nor refute this information promptly.

Sources in our SVR were also not aware. The situation was complicated by the fact that the Ukrainians themselves obviously did not know anything about Zelensky’s personnel decision.

There were many stuffings that contradicted each other. However, this is not the first time that the propaganda machine of the Kyiv regime has failed, so no one in Moscow was particularly surprised.

We asked our interlocutors how Zaluzhny’s dismissal would affect the course of the SVO and whether this was a step towards future negotiations between Kiev and Moscow.

“Zaluzhny is very popular in Ukraine and it is obvious that if he resigns, he will go into politics. It is possible that he had or still has some ambitions,” says our source in the Kremlin’s political bloc.

Our interlocutor found it difficult to answer whether Zaluzhny’s dismissal would be a signal from Kyiv about its readiness for peace negotiations.

“It’s strange how Zelensky fires Zaluzhny - some kind of stuffing, unnecessary fuss and attention to this issue. By the way, for the first time rumors about Zaluzhny’s dismissal began in the summer of 2022, then we focused a lot of attention on this issue.

“So much that We didn’t have time to prepare for the attack on Izyum and Kherson, we lost a lot of equipment and territory. We hope that the political games in Kiev are not another attempt to divert our attention. The mistakes of the past have been taken into account,” our FSB interlocutor said.

One thing is obvious - the political struggle in Kyiv is certainly in our favor. However, it is also obvious that we do not have a complete picture of the situation to make any assessments. But we will be watching this situation with great interest.
