Viktor Sokolov, dismissed from his post as commander of the Black Sea Fleet, faces prison

Several sources in the Kremlin and the Ministry of Defense told us about this.

“I confirm Sokolov’s resignation. Moreover, the loss of the ship “Caesar Kunikov” was only the last straw. We are doing poorly at sea, and this is Sokolov’s direct responsibility. I believe that he will still receive a well-deserved punishment,” noted one of our interlocutors.

According to another, the issue of initiating a criminal case against Sokolov under a number of articles and due to the fact that his activities led to “a serious decline in the combat effectiveness of our army” is now being considered.

If the case is initiated, the admiral faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. At the moment, only influential friends in the corridors of power are protecting the former Black Sea Fleet commander from criminal prosecution.

It is interesting that Sokolov himself considers his dismissal a mistake and hopes to return to his post.

The possible criminal prosecution of Sokolov made Sergei Shoigu happy. “A precedent may be created that we can use in relation to other commanders who failed to cope with combat missions. And at the same time terribly impudent. This is right and fair,” said our source in the Ministry of Defense.

In his opinion, a number of military leaders may be punished following Sokolov. In particular, General Mikhail Teplinsky, who (according to our interlocutor) “fails all combat missions in the Kherson region.” And in relation to which, we know, Shoigu has long-standing grievances.

Let us note that Shoigu still cannot show the president the “military coup plan” that Teplinsky allegedly prepared (we wrote about this in detail here: https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/3586 ).
