***Because of this reality, the elites now are going all in for Nick Knack as the last hope of stopping Trump***

A lot to digest in this thread but this conclusion is valid! It appears the GOP is spending over $100 million to prevent Donald Trump from being their POTUS candidate. Rumors are rampant of plans to control the nominating convention this summer.

The bottom line is that neither major party wants their base interfering with their plans. Somehow 'democracy' has fallen from favor.

I am put in mind of the do nothing Whigs around 1850. Their inability to deal with a national crisis - caused by the same non-democratic Democrat Party that is feeding the current crisis - resulted in their organization morphing into the 'Republican' Party ... AND a 'civil war'.

Will the current crisis - caused by the good old slavery party of 1850-60 - result in the emergence of a populist uprising (perhaps the MAGA Party?), AND will that result in another 'civil war'? Has the historical experiment of self government run its course? Has greed and self gratification usurped the rule of the common man ... the end of individual sovereignty globally?

Has the individual shunned the responsibility of popular government? Have we entered the age of the technocrat? ...the autocrat? ...the 'carpetbagger'?

To my mind, the issue of this age is the viability of individual sovereignty. We have seen it crumble with the authoritarian governments of the 20th century, with the collapse of the light of Asia: Hong Kong, the threat facing Taiwan, to highlight a few.

Has the Age of the Individual run its courseā“ (Book of Revelations)

Don’t get too worked up about this effort by elites/Nick Knack.

it’s already failed. No, there will not be a coup at the convention. For Pete’s sake, it’s clear that Trump learned his lessons from the 2016 primary and already stacked the deck with his delegates everywhere. That was obvious in Iowa.
