He won in spite of Trump, in a year when Trumpist candidates were losing everywhere

In 2018, 2020, and 2022, as well as the 2021 Georgia runoffs, Republicans took yuge losses. The GOP holds fewer seats in Congress than it did when Trump was electd, and Trump enorsed candidates in signifiant contested raes (i.e., not raes they were going to win anyway) lost bigly.

Somehow, in spite of that trend, RonDeSantis, one of President Trump’s biggest defenders, managed to win in a purple state, then turne it into a solid red state and won re-election by 20 points, carryign blue ountries that Trump had lost two years earlier.

That occurred after Trump attacked him just days before the eletion.

He won in spite of Trump, not beause of him.
