FAA temporarily grounding Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft FAA will order immediate inspections of 171 Boeing 737 MAX 9 planes before they can return to flight after a section of an Alaska Airlines plane detached mid-flight
“From what I understand, the absorption of McDonnell-Douglas was the beginning of the end for Boeing.”
I have friends who are former Boeing employees who can verify that statement.
The Airbus A220 (Which, IIRC, is Canadian and American, mostly) is also something I'll fly on.
I have no intention whatsoever of flying on the comac c919 (which, according to WIKI, was designed from stolen Western technology.)
“ Should answer the question - Who’s the F’tard?”
There is no oversight of anything at Boeing.
That’ll buff right out!
“I see the MAX as being a major Boeing screw up that they built primarily to keep Southwest happy.”
I don’t think Southwest had anything to do with the MAX being built. Competition with Airbus is what drove Boeing into a sequence of poor, panic decisions. Airlines were abandoning Boeing for the way more fuel efficient Neo. The decision to cram that big fan under the already too short 737 was ALL Boeings, primarily the young DEI leaders who refused to listen to the old men who knew better.

The guy installing the door panel must have thought it was a press fit....
Or it was near quitting time for that shift and they had just placed the panel in then left for the day and the next shift guy painted over the area....
