Just your normal day. Riding on a train in Italy when we all have to get off and get on a bus because a WW II era bomb was found and has to be removed…
Ah, the good life, the high life.
Looks like there might be some movement from Turkey on Sweden NATO membership, if so hope that means gripens are in the near future.
Less of a dance needed for gripens, and frankly they seem like a better fit for Ukraine
“Turkey Seeks F-16 Engines from US for Domestic Fighter Jet”
Turkey is using whatever leverage they have, can’t blame them. Even orban will likely cave if more money is thrown his way.
Dodging ww2 bombs, sounds like fun
Safe travels
Domestic aircraft production esp 4th-5th generation stuff is extremely expensive.
Perun had a good video on this
The f-35 is successful because scale has been large. Producing such an aircraft for domestic use only generally is not very successful.
The gripen is a success largely because it is not as complex, and serves the needs of the Swedes. Curious what kind of market the Turks will have, and what kind of scale of production they can get.
The attack on the Novocherkassk is still big news.
Some speculation:
The range of Storm Shadow missiles handed over to Ukraine is twice as long as expected - German military expert Erhard Bühler on the destruction of the landing ship Novocherkassk in the port of Feodosiya.
Previously, it was believed that Ukraine had received an export version of these missiles with a range of 250 kilometers. However, according to Bühler, if the AFU managed to reach Feodosiya, this may indicate that they have the original version of the Storm Shadow missile with a range of 560 km, which is part of the NATO arsenal.

My guess is that a limited supply of the long range Stormshadows has been provided.
The mission profile was probably flown entirely at low altitude with a final attack from due south of the target.
The S-400s never saw the Stormshadow.

There is a huge body of opinion supporting the Gripen as the best match for Ukraine.
It is noted that the drone can be used for surveillance, reconnaissance, photo acquisition and transmission, and cooperation with ground operations forces. With a payload of 10 kg, the drone can operate for 1.5 hours, making flights over a distance of 150 km. With a load of 2 kg, the working time increases to 3.5 hours, and the flight distance - up to 350 km.

...resistant to EW and jamming devices.
To be resistant they would have to be able to fly without GPS and provide accurate Lat/Long coordinates in real time.
I'll wait and see.
Russian armor was stopped first and the infantry was finished off with cluster ammo.

Over the past couple of weeks the FPV attacks on armor have resulted in large explosions.
The FPV drone operators have learned the best aim point for a "K-kill".

Note: battery powered drones are unable to fly in cold weather.
Heart warming video of an 83 year old Russian Babushka relating to elections and the media - could almost be talking about the US - particularly if Biden or some other Democrat wins in 2024.

I believe that ruzzia are using their "parked" vehicles to forward deploy ammo.
They believe that UKF will not attack a damaged vehicle.
Guess again.
1000 are past the expiry date but will work another few years before they have to be scrapped.
20 ATACMS were sent to Ukraine, which has been out of the missiles since Oct.
On Dec 8, the US Army received its first PrSM missiles which will replace ATACMS

Shipping these ATACMs to Ukraine would be cost effective.
Scrapping these missiles would be criminal.
First, the leading MBT with mine-clearing gear found what it was looking for, a mine which blew the entire front part of the vehicle to pieces. Then chaos erupted and the entire column gets stuck. The 2nd MBT and one BMP-2 got destroyed. The last surviving BMP-2 made its last-ditch effort, charged mindlessly forward and blew himself up at the same mine field which took out the first MBT. Ukrainians end their misery with a rain of cluster ammunition.
An absolute senseless attack which paraphrases the devastating state of mind in which those Russian soldiers are, either by sheer incompetence or because being threatened with execution by their own if not following through with the attack.

The video shows how ruzzia loses 920 troops, 42 APVs, 40 vehicles, 27 tanks, and 15 artillery in one day.
