I have always thought Vivek has been campaigning for a spot in the cabinet (not VP, he doesn't bring enough to the ticket)

The only thing a VP nominee needs to bring to the ticket is some reassurance that he will adhere to the same principles as the presidential nominee. No one votes for the ticket based on the VP nominee, but many people will _not_ vote for a ticket if they find the VP nominee too noxious.

I, for one, would be glad to vote for a Trump/Vivek ticket - if anything happens to Trump (78 in January 2025), I'm pretty confident Vivek will be a strong conservative president. If Trump, for some unknown reason, chose Nikki Haley, I'll probably sit the 2024 election out, for the same underlying reason - I don't believe she's a conservative and she would be a disaster if anything happened to Trump.

Kamala proves otherwise.

Then again, how many people really "voted" for the Biden/Kamala ticket?

“No one votes for the ticket based on the VP nominee,”

I did, when I “pulled the lever” for McCain.

trump would be stupid to bring anyone on as vice president who was not in agreement on core principles.

At this point I don’t put assassination past those aligned against trump.

I believe that any vice president that does not mirror trump on policy is a danger to trump even if they would never participate in an assassination plot.

The only thing a VP nominee needs to bring to the ticket is some reassurance that he will adhere to the same principles as the presidential nominee.

That sounds great but it is simply untrue.

Traditionally the VP has been used to balance the ticket, usually geographically. If the Republicans are running someone from the North East, then they need someone, probably a popular governor, from the South.

Sometimes it is used to balance by race or gender. Running black guy? Make sure you pick an old White guy so some voters aren't scared off. Running an old white guy? Pick someone black or a woman.

I love Vivek but he doesn't help the ticket in any way. If he was black, I could see it but he just won't help win anything. For the most part, people who like Vivek like already like Trump so there is no point to him being on the ticket
