I though devout Muslims were forbidden from relations with Jewish women and that it was equivalent to sex with a pig, thus sending them to hell.
Am I wrong?

You are wrong. The Muslim law on captives is different.
Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 459.
Muhammed did not forbid raping the captive women. Instead he made an asinine claim that when Allah intends to create someone, nothing can prevent it. He told his men that coitus interruptus is ill-advised because it would be an attempt to thwart the will of Allah. He did not say a word against the rape of the captives, and by discouraging coitus interruptus, he supported forced insemination.

Raping women captured in battle is not only promoted in Islam, but they have the example of Mohammed raping Rayhana bint Zayd, after beheading his husband and other captives of the
Banu Qurayza. The Jewish tribes of Yathrib welcommed Muhammed and his followers, when they fled Mecca. They grew in number and turned on the Jewish, Christians, and Pagan tribes. 2 of the three Jewish tribes sided with those who fought the armies of Mohammed and lost at the Battle of the Trench. The Banu Qurayza sided with Muhammed because of a treaty. But once Mohammed controlled Yathrib and renamed it Medina, he had a dream saying that the Banu Qurayza betrayed him. And so, they waged a war of extermination against the Banu Qurayza. In the end, all of the surviving adult men of the Banu Qurayza who were captured were beheaded. The women and children were enslaved for rape.
