In the US military I used “Top secret” documents daily.
Even at the rank of E-2. I used to program daily IFF codes for B-52 aircraft.
Plus I repaired the IFF transponders.
I was 19 years old.
soldiers get all sorts of “secret” info.
that is how they do their job.
only Russians and Chinese need
officers to make decisions.

Yeah, but did you carry that top secret information on your body into enemy territory on a suicide mission?

I always thought it was us controllers, who told the pilots what to squawk, plus we didn’t use IFF. We used SIF. The only ones who used IFF, were the old world War 2 C-47s that came in. We hated it, since it didn’t work well at all.
