I think Hamas picked the wrong leader to mess with. I’m not the biggest Netenyahu fan, but I believe it when he says they are going to kick some butt.

He’s done. Country was already sharply divided over court issue. Short term they unify, but as soon as they can, they will start to use “intelligence failure” against him, blame him for not being ready for attacks, and he’s out.
Perhaps you’re right, Hamas is an evil terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel, but they are not stupid.
They had to know a raid like they performed last Saturday was going to bring about a massive response from whoever was the leader of Israel, the public was going to demand it.
Reports are Hamas was planning this for 2 years, coincidently right after Biden took over.
Hamas is going to take huge loses and Gaza will be leveled, Israel will also take heavy loses.
My though is the Hamas raid was just the opening attack on Israel, inflict huge casualties on Israeli citizens, draw Israel into a ground invasion of Gaza, make it as painful as possible for Israel, as Israel is wrapping things up, launch a huge attack from Hezbollah in the north, perhaps Syria in the Golan Heights, and start an all out war with Israel.
A single Hamas attack as deadly as it was can’t be the only thing on the agenda for the Muslims, try to draw in Muslims from all over the world, to engage in the “Final Battle” over Israel, backed by Iran, galvanize the entire Muslim world against Israel and the USA.
I tend to think of a worse case situation and hope for the best, this could be a really serious situation much larger than what’s going in Gaza right now.
