For years the Republican Party has stood for nothing, and has been rudderless.
This is the inevitable result of that.
It is not for nothing that Republicans have earned the distinctively derogatory reputation for being “the stupid party”.
“Circular firing squad” and “shooting yourself in the foot” are both self-destructive, and usually pointless, unforced errors in the game where the stakes are sometimes much higher than the players seem able to perceive.
