Back in the mid-80s I had the chance to buy a very nice original condition ‘66 (’67?) 4-speed Impala coupe with a 427. The price was $6500 if I remember correctly, anyway not a ton of money. I was single, and could have afforded it pretty easily. However, I was living in an apartment and didn’t have a secure place to park it. This was in Jacksonville FL, there were always Navy personnel transferring overseas, and a lot of nice muscle cars on the market.
I bought a ‘65 Impala in 1973 for $500 and drove it a quarter-million miles.
