I feel pretty strongly about it.
My dad was a 30 year Navy vet (WWII, Korea, Vietnam) and my mother’s eyes would still flash with anger, years later, when she recalled the “No Sailors or Dogs on the Grass” signs that she saw.
Now, I was born in Norfolk, VA, and I don’t remember seeing them when served there, but my mom didn’t think they were any kind of urban legend or anything like that.
When she spoke about them, they weren’t an urban legend or a joke to her.
