I know scrappers would be drooling to get into that area and doing what they do best.
“Scrapping” on Maui would be a very limited occupation. Vehicles go there to die. You rarely see one much older than ten years. The sea breeze just eats sheet metal. There seems to be at least one salvage yard in the area. If they ever ship any metal scrap off the island it would be after a portable crusher comes over and makes a load.
Scrap iron in the islands goes to a re-bar mill on Oahu, at Campbell Industrial park. Aluminum does get bundled and exported in bales.
