An anchor baby is a child born to non-citizen parents, usually illegal aliens, in a country that recognizes birthright citizenship, in the hopes that the child will help his parents gain legal residency or citizenship. Ramaswamy’s parents were legally in this country and in the process of gaining their citizenship, so calling him an “anchor baby” is a stretch.
And here I thought I was watching a Republican presidential candidate debate. Be that as it may, not all birthright citizens are Art. II, ยง1, cl. 5 natural-born citizens.
