You'd think that if had Trump violated any laws, or rules pertaining to that $250 million, he'd have already been indicted for it, along with the rest of the people who were involved in setting the fund up. They've indicted him for everything else...even crap from 30 years ago. Why not this?

Democrats went after him about this during the January 6th hearings claiming Trump committed fraud. Democrat Zoe Lofgren pushed the theory. Yeah, those are the people whose sentiments I want to echo. The January 6th Committee submitted criminal referrals to the DOJ on Trump. Was the $250 million one of them? I don't recall it being included, so why wasn't it, if it was an actual violation of laws?

According to this article, that quoted Trump campaign aides, the “Official Election Defense Fund” as it was called, never formally existed. So, how does one steal from a defense fund that never really existed?

Trump’s raising of $250m for fund that ‘did not exist’ suggests possible fraud

Alleging someone stole money from a fund that even didn't exist, without having any evidence to back it up, is just rumor, gossip, and innuendo...and Democrat talking points. You could always call your Rep. and US Senator to ask them why a criminal referral wasn't sent to the DOJ on this, or do you only want to whine about something you're too lazy to pursue?

That’s tight, thanks for confirming the “shell game” that Trump played on his donors, where he took donations from them under the guise it would be used fight for the 2020 election, but actually moved that money into his general fund for rallies and trips instead.

Here’s an article that describes the dirty trick in more detail. And I am on high moral ground when pointing this out, because back in January of 2021, right here on FR, I was defending Trump from those who were on here saying that it was all just a scam. I didn’t want to believe it for almost two years. But at some point, you just have to admit you were wrong, if you believe in integrity.

The ‘big rip-off’: how Trump exploited his fans with ‘election defense’ fund

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jun/18/donald-trump-election-defense-fundraising-defrauded-fans

At 8.38pm on 4 November 2020, the day after America had gone to the polls to elect its next president, Donald Trump sent out a message to hundreds of thousands of his supporters from the email address contact@victory.donaldtrump.com.

By then it was already clear that not only was victory eluding Trump, but that he was heading towards defeat. Not that you would have known it from Trump’s email.

“Friend,” it began. “The Democrats are trying to STEAL the Election. I’ve activated the Official Election Defense Fund and I need EVERY PATRIOT, including YOU, to step up and make sure we have enough resources to PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF OUR ELECTION.”

Over the next nine weeks Trump bombarded his loyal followers with a blitzkrieg of emails, sometimes 25 in a single day. millions of emails sent out from the @victory.donaldtrump.com address essentially said the same thing. They exhorted Trump supporters to back the “Official Election Defense Fund” with their hard-earned dollars.

“If EVERY Patriot chips in $5, President Trump will have what it takes to DEFEND the Election and WIN!” said the email that was transmitted on 10 November – three days after Biden’s victory had been sealed.

There was only one problem with this epic flurry of emails: the Official Election Defense Fund did not exist.
