Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

I’ll cut it short for you next time, since you and others seem to be reading-challenged and living in information vacuums.

‘Could we see the world’s first naval drone blockade?’

“With the successful #drone attack on the #Russian port of #Novorossiysk by #Ukraine, and damage to the landing ship #OlenegorskiyGornyak, does this set a new & terrifying prospect for #Russia in the #BlackSea? 2 points: 1) If the #Ukrainian army can retake the land bridge . . .

. . . then the #Russian army might retreat both into #Crimea & towards #Mariupol. Ukraine having the land bridge means the #Kerchbridge can be destroyed, trapping Ru army in Crimea. For the Ru army to evac from there, they need landing ships like the #OlenegorskiyGornyak . . .

So Ukraine essentially neutralises a big part of the Ru army so they can bring more concentration of force to the Eastern front. Therefore, it’s essential that evac from Crimea by Ru is depleted as much as possible. Which is why landing ships are high value targets.

Point 2) With the collapse of the #Graindeal, #Russia has tried to exert power over the #BlackSea. The fact that #Ukraine has struck at #Novorossiysk itself, which is Russia’s largest port by volume (in 2022 nearly 150 million metric tonnes were processed) . . .

. . . compared to runner-up Ust-Luga in the Baltic. Back in 2011 it accounted for 21% of total cargo turnover for Russia. With yesterday’s attack on #Novorossiysk, does this mean that potentially Russian shipping is now vulnerable? And how long until we see . . .

. . . ships such as the Sparta IV, suspected of bringing #military equipment from #Syria to #Russia, harassed or sunk by #navaldrones from #Ukraine? Could we see the world’s first naval drone blockade of #Novorossiysk? Imagine what that would do to the #Russianeconomy!

I’ve included a couple of links here that people might find interesting: https://marineinsight.com/know-more/7-major-ports-in-russia/ and https://navalnews.com/naval-news/2023/03/russian-ship-loaded-with-military-equipment-enters-black-sea/ by the always interesting

‘they didn’t even really try’

“10/ Pro-Russian “Military Informant” Telegram on the government’s response to these threats: “If, after several attacks on ships in Sevastopol, they (Rus Navy) finally began to take actions to prevent future attacks, then in neighboring Novorossiysk, as it turns out, they didn’t even really try.””

“11/ “Why try - we (Novorossiysk) are far away, and we were not attacked before. But hey - we are the best at organizing a naval parade. Although the vessels were warned in advance, the (Olenegorskiy Gornyak) watch was sleeping. There are no boom barriers (against USVs).””

Where was Olenegorskiy Gornyak built? In Poland.

Good luck on getting ‘spare parts’.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_landing_ship_Olenegorsky_Gornyak

“In case you are wondering if BDK-91 Olenegorskiy Gornyak can be repaired:
Watch what happened with their sister ships (Caesar Kunikov”&”Novocherkassk). They were damaged in Berdyansk. Since spare parts coming from Poland, it’s impossible.”

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/08/meat-grinder-ukraine-loses-43000-soldiers-since-june/

“Since the start of the so-called ‘offensive,’ the Ukrainian armed forces lost over 43,000 soldiers in June-July. This number does not include the injured, who were evacuated to hospitals in Ukraine and abroad, foreign mercenaries as well as the soldiers that were neutralized in long-range high-precision strikes in rear areas,” the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed. Gateway had estimated Ukrainian losses at 46.800, based on previous MoD figures.

“Over four thousand nine hundred units of various AFU weapons have been destroyed on the line of contact, including 26 aircraft, 9 helicopters, 1,831 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, including 25 German-manufactured Leopard tanks, 7 French AMX wheeled tanks and 21 U.S.-manufactured Bradley IFVs. In addition, the enemy losses were 747 field artillery pieces and mortars, including 76 U.S.-manufactured M777 artillery systems, as well as 84 self-propelled artillery systems from Poland, the United States, France and Germany”, the Russian ministry claimed.

HIGHLY recommend this article.

PIF article linked earlier today: https://www.bbc.com/russian/articles/cxrxlwr2q4ro

“Questions about the points of the ultimatum should have arisen, for example, in terms of demands to return NATO troops to the state of 1997, says Bondarev. Moscow seemed to have forgotten that at that time 300,000 American military personnel were stationed in Europe, and not 5-7 thousand, as in 2021.”

“the expert ironically, what was happening looked like Moscow was asking NATO to pretend that this alliance had lost in the Cold War.”

“On February 2, 2022, the text of Washington’s and Brussels’ responses to Moscow’s demands was published by the Spanish El Pais. NATO offered talks on abandoning the deployment of offensive missile systems and troops in Ukraine and strategic security in Europe, the US wanted to limit nuclear weapons. Washington even agreed to discuss the issue of Tomahawk missiles stationed in Poland and Romania and capable of reaching Russia, a question that had worried Moscow for many years.

Gabuev, who spoke with Russian diplomats at the time, recalls that those American proposals were pleasantly surprised: “Wow, now we have to sit in Geneva for another couple of months, and we will put on paper ideal agreements that will really strengthen security.” Even Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin, in a conversation with the BBC, admits that an agreement on the neutral status of Ukraine was “in the air.”

According to Gabuev, the Kremlin in those days could have won a big diplomatic victory, albeit with the help of blackmail, but Putin had already decided to fight, and communication with NATO turned out to be just a smokescreen. The president eventually announced that the alliance had ignored “fundamental Russian concerns.””

““Russia is ready to cooperate with NATO […] Up to joining the alliance.” It’s hard to believe, but these words were spoken by Vladimir Putin in March 2000 . And he added: “I cannot imagine my country isolated from Europe.””

“Russia has doubled its 2023 defence spending target to more than $100 billion - a third of all public expenditure”

They have also greatly increased spending on domestic security (police, monitoring, censorship, repression).

Expenses are through the roof, while revenues collapse.

When the savings run out, significant effects will occur.

“Why don’t you place the 13 subsequent comments to yourself into the first comment”

Why don’t you place your comments somewhere else?

Does it sound different to you, when someone else tries telling you what and how you should comment?

Does it sound rude?.

It is.

The ‘embargo’ can’t be enforced. RuZZia’s fleet will be destroyed.

“May be wrong but I take this attack as somewhat of a reminder that if the Black Sea Fleet comes out to play to enforce the “Embargo” that they’re going to get smacked. “

“Stakes are high as Ukraine’s offensive starts to secure a military advantage”

“This systematic erosion of Russian artillery has been a turning point: for the first time in the war, Ukrainian howitzers can deliver sustained fire on to Russian positions. It also means that Moscow — while still destroying Ukrainian vehicles in the minefields — has less artillery power to kill the infantry that emerge from them. As a result, Ukrainian troops are succeeding in taking Russian positions, even when their vehicles are caught in the open.”

"did that and you Friends of Putin complained it was too long. Can’t have it both ways."

I highly doubt that, and it sure wasn't me. I think all that you are doing is shoving any opposing replies way down the page in order to hide them and/or to make your post look like it has more engagement. It is as simple as that.
