Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
ORYX ^ | Since February 24, 2022 and daily | ORYX

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Summarizing this war:

A tragedy for Ukraine.
A disaster for RuZZia.
A strategic win for the USA. The biggest winner of the war.

Excerpt:
Christopher Miller (@ChristopherJM) reported in Financial Times on Saturday that a batch of rockets from one of Moscow’s few remaining allies made it into the Ukrainian stockpile. Exactly how Kyiv got them remains in question, the rockets were either captured from Russian positions or allegedly seized at sea by a friendly country and donated to Ukraine.

Citing a Ukrainian artillery commander, Miller reports the rockets have earned a troublesome reputation for duds and misfires, so much so that a soldier warned not to stand too close to the BM-21 launcher when it fired the rounds. Markings reportedly indicate they were manufactured in the 1980s or 1990s.

Their intent may be to destabilize Europe and take attention away from Ukraine.

They may pretend to be ‘immigrants’ moving through this lightly policed region, as this has been the usual route for ME ‘asylum’ seekers.

••Day 521: Jul 29

Today there is a lot of good news.

First of all, when it comes to the Russian breakthrough in the Luhansk region, Ukrainians finally reversed the momentum and started pushing Russians back.

Previously, Russian forces opened 3 axes of advance and, by unexpectedly concentrating their artillery fire on this small section of the front line, managed to advance by around 4 km and take 3 settlements.

By that time, Ukrainian forces had adapted to the situation and reinforced this region with available forces and artillery systems.

Apart from dealing with higher resistance, Russian forces struggled to advance further due to the local geography.

As you can see, up to that point, Russians advanced along the tree lines and small forests, while the next several km have little to none of them.

In order to overcome such difficulties, Russian forces needed to supply their bridgehead with a lot of resources, and as revealed by the footage released by the Russian 21st brigade, Russians have significant trouble with transferring over the river anything apart from infantry.

After conducting intense artillery preparation, Ukrainian forces launched their first counterattack.

After short clashes, Russian forces retreated, and Ukrainians returned control over Nadia.

Even though Russian sources reported that Russian forces retained control over adjacent positions, it is unlikely that they stayed there for long because they were operationally encircled.

The second counterattack happened in Novoehorivka.

Ukrainian sources reported that Ukrainian forces advanced along the tree belt and pushed Russians out of Novoehorivka.

Russian sources acknowledged the fact of the counterattacks and loss of several positions, but did not specify whether they lost the settlement.

The third counterattack happened in the direction of Karmazynivka.

Yesterday’s geolocated footage shows how Russians are shelling the small forest which they previously controlled, implying that the Ukrainian counterattack was successful here as well.

Today, Russian sources also published combat footage, showing how they are already shelling the next positions on the line, implying further Ukrainian advancement.

Overall, we can see that Ukrainians stabilized the situation in the north-east and managed to push Russians back along the whole line of incursion.

Russian analysts stated that, right now, Russian forces are on the defensive and are not wasting resources on attacks, because they expect an even bigger counterattack, where Ukrainians would try to push them back across the river.

In the meantime, Ukrainian forces continue conducting successful offensive operations south of Bakhmut.

Today, it was confirmed that Russian forces retreated from Andriivka.

Geolocated footage shows that Russians established their positions behind the railway embankment around 50 meters east of the settlement.

Ukrainians unleashed fighters from special forces detachment Kraken who are now hunting them down and destroying the shelters with precise artillery and drone strikes.

While the fighters from Kraken are attacking Russians east of Andriivka, the fighters from the 3rd assault brigade conducted an extensive operation near Kurdiumivka with the goal of expanding the bridgehead, securing the flanks, and setting conditions for a broad frontline penetration.

The operation was successful, and Ukrainians cleared multiple tree lines, forcing Russians to abandon dozens of trenched and fortifications.

In the aftermath of these attacks, Ukrainians got very close to Kurdiumivka and will like to try to penetrate Russians from two sides.

President Zelensky visited Ukrainian fighters in Bakhmut.

He said that he was impressed with the recently conducted operations, and that these fighters are not just true professionals, but also great heroes.

And Ukrainian fighters indeed achieved remarkable success, as they established control over some of the most powerful fortifications in the east within weeks, while Russians couldn’t take each of them for months.

Now, as the most formidable line of defense is breached, Ukrainian forces are planning to achieve stable progress on the ground.

[ Russia Lost the Ground | Wagner threat on Poland | Why Ukraine is Slow? ]

••Russia mil-bloggers and media outlets say they continues to take ground in the Luhansk region, but that is not true.

In the south, the UA has penetrated the first line of Russian defense.

==
The southern front along the zero line and the fortified trench systems are the most heavily mined region on Earth. But once past those obstacles, there are no more major mine fields.

Convoys on both sides get destroyed by artillery, mines and manpads. New tactic is to use only one or two vehicles with infantry and engineers to de-mine. Fewer vehicles means less chance to be spotted by drones and watch towers.

==
Pronouncements about the UA reaching Crimea shortly are, to say the least, optimistic.

==
Russians release video of a Pantsir system shooting down a Storm Shadow missile - one of 15 they claim. But from the video, there is no way to tell what the object hit actually was.

==
Russia releases an old video of UA vehicle losses near Avdiivka to show the failure of the UA army. The UA took this ground some time back.

••Drones attacked Moscow and the Moscow region again: there is destruction in one of the towers of Moscow City. Good morning, Moscow

https://t.me/pilotblog/5631

No casualties in Moscow. The war for Russians is not just on TV they feel it, they smell it. Still far away from what Ukrainians are feeling.

By the way Russia reported the interception of the drones by the radio distortion systems.

They should just let those drones go to their destination points.

Even firing at drones over the city looks more humane than using electronic warfare.

Electronic warfare makes a drone uncontrollable.

As a result, not fragments of a UAV shot down in the sky fall on the city, but the drone itself. Packed with explosives.

Musk refuses Ukrainian Army request to turn on Starlink in occupied Crimea, - NYT

Starlink is often the only way to access the Internet in war zones, remote areas, and places hit by natural disasters.

Sources of the publication note: Musk has repeatedly limited the work of Starlink in Ukraine.

“At some point, he refused the Ukrainian military’s request to turn on Starlink in the Crimea region, which affected the strategy for conducting military operations,” the newspaper writes.

It is noted that neither Musk nor SpaceX did not comment on this statement.

BRIEFLY
Al-Monitor: Turkey found itself in a difficult situation, at a time when Ukraine is looking for new ways to transport grain without relying on Russia.

Turkish President Erdogan is hesitant to confront Russia and wants to avoid further escalation in the Black Sea.

Currently, Ukraine is considering alternative routes for transporting grain, for example, through the territorial waters of Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.

However, insurance and finding ships ready to call at Ukrainian ports remain a problem due to the Russian threat.

Turkey remains committed to the revival of the grain corridor with the participation of Russia, since it is it that is the main addressee of the proposal for an alternative route.

Stability in the Black Sea is Ankara’s priority, and any new agreement could upset Moscow.

Ukraine is considering other options, including the Danube River and land and rail transport across Eastern Europe.

The crisis is testing the “red lines” of the parties involved and drawing the attention of NATO.

Ukraine is seeking NATO support, while Turkey fears upsetting the balance with Russia in the Black Sea.

Sunday Express: British forces are preparing an elite Ukrainian special forces brigade to defeat Russian forces and recapture Crimea before Christmas.

More than 2,000 soldiers have arrived in the UK to participate in special exercises.

They will be at the forefront of attacks during the invasion of the Crimea.

The operation involves strikes from the air, land and sea, while Ukrainian special forces will use equipment to undermine and fetter Russian troops. Elsewhere, armored units will break through defenses, also using long-range missiles.

They will be supplied from the UK, USA and Germany.

The exercises are being supervised by Marines.

Maneuvers include classic long-distance forced marches, company attacks at night.

One senior British military source specified that special attention is being paid to practicing NATO’s maneuvering tactics.

The Eurasian Times:
China plans to deploy a network of listening devices in the Arctic Ocean.

China has successfully tested its underwater listening devices and plans to use the collected acoustic information for scientific purposes such as understanding climate change and studying the marine ecosystem.

However, according to experts, these devices can also be used to track submarines and lay new shipping routes in the region.

China’s undersea acoustic modeling plans can be used for maritime navigation, oceanography, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as for submarine navigation, anti-submarine warfare, target designation and weapons delivery.

Data from the instruments will be directly transmitted to the command center via satellites.

BRIEF
In Britain, more than 2 thousand Ukrainian special forces are being trained for the operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the Russian Federation, connected with the Crimea.

This was reported by the Sunday Express newspaper.

According to the publication, the Kyiv authorities intend to use new long-range missiles against the peninsula, which will be supplied by the UK, Germany and the United States, in order to disrupt the supply of Russian troops.

According to the Sunday Express, the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is carried out by the British military from the 3rd Special Forces Brigade of the Royal Marines.
