It’s hard to imagine, looking at the incredible sunrise over the hills here in the Galilee this morning, that just a few hours ago our kibbutz was being ripped apart by supporters of our neighbor, Likud MK Amichai Chikli.
For months now, every Friday at exactly 16:30, peaceful demonstrations have taken place outside his house. Nearer our backyard than his, in fact, for his personal guards set up fences to ensure they are not too near his actual residence. Which means the demonstrations take place on the doorsteps of all of his neighbors’ houses. Week after week we have listened to the cries of “Democracy” and “Shame on you!” and although the majority of our kibbutz are pluralistic, tolerant, peace-loving, kind, left-wing citizens very much against Netanyahu and his attempts to turn our country into a dictatorship, many of us have tried to stay out of it. After all, Amichai is our neighbor. His wife is absolutely lovely and his children are adorable. Who are we to make their lives miserable by presenting them every Shabbat eve with the horrors of which their father is guilty?

The judicial reforms being attempted are reasonable.
The current judicial establishment is self-serving and has made up from whole cloth not just rules for itself, but laws for the nation and rules for how they themselves are chosen (the judicial establishment itself, not the executive with the consent of the legislature, chooses new candidates for the supreme court). If the executive or the legislature operated with so little checks and balances on their powers the judiciary itself would be up in arms, yet they think nothing of taking such unchecked powers for themselves.
The bar and the judiciary in Israel are dominated by the Left and it is the possible loss of that power that they are “protesting”.
The same thing is happening in Israel as is happening here. A fight to get rid of the deep state cabal.
It is amazing just how widespread corruption exists.
This is sad.
We need to fix our Judicial system too.
Unelected judges shouldn’t be able to override the Exec and Legisative branches willy nilly.
Try that here and our leftists will go nuts too.

JMO but they’re worse knowing rockets from a bundle of difference factions can hit most all of Israel while American leftists never have to see the hostility on our border. That’s a special kind of stubborn leftist.
