Where did THAT crazy idea come from?

Luther, it’s called Sola Scriptura...created 1,500 years after Jesus died on the cross. Protestants believe, or haven’t thought about it, that God got it wrong for 1,500 years and Luther finally corrected God so you could create your own interpretation.

I merely find it amusing to see someone quote Augustine in an attempt to defend the concept of solo scriptura.

Laugh away.

I find it quite sad to see a Catholic IGNORE Augustinian quotes in an attempt to try to defend the supreme power of the Church of Rome.

You don’t understand how Jesus church operate no 8ndividual, including the Pope has the authority to do what you state. As common, protestants have distortion of truth to support their own creation of God rather than real truth.

It is merely a record of all that one needs to know.

Hold this thought!

(The 'first' pope said it...)

2 Peter 1:3 niv

His divine power has given us everything we need
for a godly life through our knowledge of him
who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Something fun to ponder is how much of the New Testament came from the Holy Mother, Mary.

Ponder away. For Rome certainly has!

Here are the ONLY words of Mary recorded in the Bible:

 All the Words of Mary...
...as recorded in the Bible.

 ...To the angel
And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?
And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word.  (St Luke 1:34, 38   D-RC 1752)

...To Elizabeth
And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers.” (Luke 1:46-55)

 ...To Jesus
His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”  (Luke 2:48-50)

... at Cana
And when the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it” (John 2:3-5).

Heck; even the Quran has more info than this about ‘Mary’!

There were Eucharistic miracles centuries before Luther decided he had the authority to correct God’s “errors”.
What did Luther change? (provide link)

You can distort Bible verses all you want...it’s called Sola Scritura.
What did I distort? (Provide example)

You create terology from your own personal interpretation.
What did I interpret? (Provide... ANYTHING!)

Satan loves that.
Interesting that you know what Satan loves...

(The Bible calls Satan the Accuser...)

Lol, no it’s biblically accurate and tradition as well.

Wait a minute!

I thought there was no NT when Thomas was around, so how can your statement here be true?

You seem to have skipped over #209.

Why?

—> the Gospels were eye witness accounts 8n some cases passed down to be written others werewritten by the original eye witness.

No.

Regardless of what happened before, scripture says God moved on men to inspire His Words.

Every recorded word comes by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

—> Something fun to ponder is how much of the New Testament came from the Holy Mother, Mary.

None we can point to with knowledge.

All is from God Himself.

Luther?

You're a bit late, historically speaking. You should NOT have skipped over #215:

For as Jesus said...."the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you".....

John 14:26

For the record, I am not trying to defend the power of Rome. I admit there are bad popes just as there are bad Catholics … I.e. those to do not adhere to the faith of our fathers.

What I am trying to defend are the 8 simple words that this thread was trying to dance around and rework.

Why is it so difficult for people to admit that Peter was given special authority by Christ?

if the greek is not fully inspired by God Himself, then any claim of the RCC to have compiled the Bible is proven wrong, again.

Perhaps you should look into the Catholic teaching regarding Biblical Inspiration, because your post sounds very bizarre; there's no causal connection between "the Greek translation [of the original] is not fully inspired by God" and "therefore the Catholic Church cannot have claimed to compile the Bible."

Biblical Inspiration and the Compilation of the Biblical Canon, although related, are still distinct topics.
