Normally I don’t work this late but there are potentially world-changing events happening tonight. For those that need a quick primer, you can go back and read these four posts for the longer version. This has been building up for months:

So now let’s catch up on events of the past few hours. Prigozhin’s troops have been fighting with the army in and around the Russian town of Rostov.

Wagner operations are continuing in Russia. The rebels are confirmedly in Rostov and Voronezh, and they have been located in other areas as well.
This is most likely a well pre-planned operation, not a spontaneous or improvised one.
Wagner starts this from the position of an underdog, so actions must be carefully considered if long-term success is wanted.
Although there are plenty of shortcomings in the skills of a basic Russian soldier, the core of Wagner's professional soldiers are competent.
Russian leaders are facing an immensely difficult situation.
If they respond to this with heavy military actions aiming to fully eliminate and dissolve Wagner, it can affect the overall support for the war. The situation itself is already making Russia look weak.
War takes on a life of its own. The unexpected and impossible becomes fact. Sorry, but I do not think blow hard leader of the Wagner mercenaries has the power base to take over Russia. This looks like a bit of treason. It is Putin’s fault for not being vicious enough. Be careful what you wish for—the person to follow Putin may well be worse. Ukraine may well win the war and lose the peace. The next 48 hours will tell the tale.

[Putin appointees:] Kots, Poddubny, Pegov all make clear statements of support for Putin after his speech. Another tells Russian soldiers to follow their oaths.
Who will control the nukes? Imagine that. A bloodthirsty violent mercenary group with nukes. What could go wrong?

Prigozhin has enlisted the support of [Sergey / Sergei] Surovikin and is transferring groups of mercenaries from Syria to Russia, - Russian media claim. There is currently no official confirmation of the information.
It is also reported that the leader of the "Wagner" PMC and the commander of the Air Force, Colonel-General Teplinsky, are on the side.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation warned Western countries against any hints about the possible use of the internal Russian situation to achieve their "Russophobic goals".
"Russian society resolutely supports the president, and the mutiny of the conspirators plays into the hands of the external enemies of the Russian Federation", - the Ministry claims.

As for those cheering Prigozhin and his forces on, the guy lost his mind in Bahkmut. If you think things will get better for the world if he takes control of Russia’s forces, your out of your minds. And if you think they can take Moscow, well it‘s not happening unless he gets backup from the US and all of NATO with all that implies.
Truth is, if Putin forces get a lock on Prigozhin, he becomes a red mist. When he’s gone, what’s left of his followers will dissolve. He won’t become a martyr any more than Benedict Arnold did.

Prigozhin is the public face of Wagner, but he is neither the brains nor the money behind the force. Dmitry Utkin has run the force since its inception
Utkin lives as a ghost, and would not be an easy man to kill.

I saw the video. She said they felt sorry for them, that they looked so tired, hungry and thirsty.
