Obama was not eligible, because his mother was too young under the law at that time to pass on her citizenship at his birth. The law was later changed, but not retroactively.
My guess is that Barack Obama has never been a US citizen. He didn’t acquire citizenship at birth, and was never naturalized.

Which is one of the main reasons why we never saw his transcripts from Occidental College or Columbia U. I would bet he enrolled as a foreign student. Most likely Indonesian. Keep in mind his mother married an Indonesian national. They went and lived there for a short time. He admits to visiting Pakistan at a time when US citizen was not allowed to go there.
