Or ‘parent’. Either way, I agree, but I wouldn’t clear the hospital from mutilating the kid by saying they were “just following orders” (of a sick mother, or sick parents). We didn’t allow that defense when the Nazis did the same experiments on children during WW2, and neither should we allow it today.
The doctors no doubt told the parents “Wouldn’t you rather have a live son than a dead daughter?” Told them how there is no other option than to medically transition, how successful it is (”Look at the Jenner family...”)
