DeSantis Condemns Trump Indictment — and Uses it to Campaign For Himself

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis condemned the federal indictment of former President Donald Trump — and used his statement about it to campaign.

DeSantis posted a statement about the “weaponization of federal law enforcement” to his Twitter account on Thursday evening.

“The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society,” DeSantis began. “We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation.”

The tweet continued, “Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter?”

DeSantis then quickly switched gears to campaign for himself.

“The DeSantis administration will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all,” the governor concluded.

The Department of Justice has indicted former President Donald Trump on seven counts related to handling classified documents, according to reports.

Trump responded to the federal charges by declaring, “I AM INNOCENT” in multiple posts on Truth Social.

This is the first time in the history of the United States that a former president has faced federal charges.

“any Republican candidate that didn’t suspend their campaign and travel to Miami to unite in support of Trump is part of the problem”

So true.

“Trump tried to make the GOP a working class average citizen party”

He only likes populism because that is what narcissists gravitate towards to gain adulation

What part of Trump's first administration was not conservative?

Was it:

  1. Low inflation?
  2. Low unemployment, especially for blue collar work?
  3. Rising real wages?
  4. Standing up to China and tariffs?
  5. Building a wall and having the most secure border since the 1960s?
  6. Cheap gas, super high oil production?
  7. Selecting 3 SCOTUS judges that fundamentally changed the court?

That is an incomplete list but please tell us what is not conservative about any of those things?

“If Trump failed to declassify these documents before taking them, he is a fool.”

A POTUS doesn’t formally have to declassify anything. Just having them indicates they’re declassified. That was the decision in the case when classified docs were found in Clinton’s socks drawer.

> No matter what happens I will be voting for Trump. My last vote I will ever cast.

I’m with you 100%. I don’t care who is nominated by the Uniparty. I’m voting for President Trump in November and nothing can stop me. I will crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump.

I think it is important to remember that Trump is a manifestation of the working class/middle class revolt, not a cause. He was the only one that somewhat supported the things they are seeking. They were fed up with years of GOPe BS.

However, we shouldn’t forget that Trump is primarily a big spending NY liberal. The left has just gone so nuts, that some people look at him as right leaning now. I would say he is more in line with JFK than Reagan.

My point is that we need to keep this about the working class/middle class, not about a particular candidate. That is a little backward.

There is no scenario where I would vote for any of the establishment Republican clowns.

Any real patriot running as a Republican would rally around Trump.

It's Trump or communism in 2024.

If ever there was a great argument that “Trump picked lousy people” it’s DeSnakis.

Dead to me.

If President Trump is not on the ballots, just write him in.

Certainly shouldn’t vote for someone who can’t even pretend to be on America’s side and who is aligned with Joe Biden and his crooked administration.

Notice how they mention Hillary and Hunter, but won’t mention Joe Biden himself. They’re corrupt too, that’s why.

Useful idiots, and they actually are comfortable with corruption as long as it serves their purpose. So very short sighted and unthinking.

Trump was very good president, but his naïveté about what the Democrats have become (Rush talked about this all the time) and his carelessness about protecting himself from them looks like it’s going to get him thrown into prison right in the middle of campaign season.

All of your complaints about how unfair he’s treated are meaningless. Yeah, we freaking know - so what. This is war and it’s like hearing complaints that the enemy is better positioned. Nothing is going to ever change unless we can at least capture the presidency again. Maybe not even then, but it’s the only shot we’ve got to clean out the DOJ. I’m not signing up with an injured general whose central strategy seems to be charging machine gun nests.

“the cult of Trump. where a losing candidate demands to be treated like a winning one.”

The cult of Satan. where pathetic losers do their utmost to sabotage the only person who has a chance to save the country God blessed us with. (And, yeah; I ended my sentence with a preposition.)

None have so far and none will, it is ludicrous

This is what Republicans do, they get outraged make a scene and do nothing.

Trump is facing two criminal indictments right now and probably more to come, I would not be surprised if Trump is prevented from campaigning, the logic will be he could influence the jury pool

My solution is mutually assured destruction, immediately start impeachment proceedings against Biden, put every piece of evidence out for the public.

Biden will not be impeached but we need more than hearings, we need actual evidence released to the public, all of it.

Then I would search for a state prosecutor somewhere to investigate and then indict Biden family members and ultimately Biden himself

If they take out Trump, Republicans take out Biden

Until Republicans play the same dirty Machiavellian game as Democrats this type of thing will continue

Instead Republicans will trash their own because they didn’t suspend their campaign and show undying loyalty for Trump
