You’re dreaming. The funding bill was already passed. One segment of one branch of government can’t stop it alone, even if they could muster the votes which would not happen. Stop looking to these people for the quick easy solution. It took over a century to get in this mess and we’re not going to fix it overnight. To believe otherwise is hopelessly naive.
“The funding bill was already passed. One segment of one branch of government can’t stop it alone, even if they could muster the votes which would not happen. “
The funding bill that passed in December takes government funding to 9/30/23, the end of the fiscal year.
And yes, the House can, alone, prevent the funding of an administrative agency. And actually it doesn’t take any votes at all. The DOJ funding bill can just be prevented from coming to the floor for a vote.
Now of course what’s gonna happen (because it happens every year) is that they’ll want yet another omnibus (all funding thrown together in one bill, not several bills as was done years ago). But the House can just say no. There will be no omnibus this year. The Senate will have to pass individual bills or the government will shut down.
