Are you suggesting that just because this whole “trans” issue is being used within a cultural war, you are justified in mistreating people who identify as “trans”? As you suggest, they are merely pawns in the struggle, but they ARE people. As Christians, we are to show love and concern for our fellow humans.
I don’t want to mistreat anyone—but I refuse to be “tolerant” when their values are opposed to mine.
Maintaining your personal integrity is critical—without going out of your way to harm anyone else.
I wanted to expand on my answer is a real world discussion from my younger days.
I was a part of the conservative movement in Boston back in the 1970s. I hung out with all the key players—and considered them to be my friends.
One of those individuals was named David Brudnoy.

David was brilliant, hilariously funny, an excellent public speaker and a wonderful spokesperson for our side.
However he had one little secret—he was gay.
Everyone in the movement knew that—even though he used a woman as a “beard” in public appearances in the early days.
I did not hold that against him...until...
One day I saw him trying to flirt with a male teenager.
In private later I was in his face—and I told him such behavior was unacceptable and he needed to stop doing it.
He promised me he would—and that was the end of that topic.
Later he “came out”, got AIDS, etc etc etc.
I think I handled it correctly. I treated him with respect while making my values crystal clear—and I think he respected me for that.
