SVR General 07JUN2023: Russian President Vladimir Putin is losing control of the system. A striking example of this is the state of affairs at the front. Yesterday morning, after reports to Putin on the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the president, during a meeting with representatives of the leadership of the power and military blocs, played out a real detective story: “Who did this?” First, the incident was reported to the President five hours later, without daring to wake him up. Secondly, by that time the leadership of the military bloc was unable to form a unified position and gave the president conflicting information, from the impact of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to technical problems on the dam. Approximately the same confusion reigned during the meeting, until the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, took the floor and clarified the situation. The possibility of undermining the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, was considered for a long time and Putin really gave the order to prepare such an operation, BUT there was no go-ahead for its implementation. Moreover, recently, through the Security Council, the president was warned about the negative consequences of the implementation of this plan.

Patrushev said that the initiative to carry out this operation with the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station belongs to one brave general who abused alcohol the day before, who claims that he coordinated his actions with Surovikin and Gerasimov. Surovikin and Gerasimov themselves categorically deny the very fact of agreeing with them any actions at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. During the discussion of the situation and the search for those responsible, one of the representatives of the leadership of the military bloc, turning to the president, practically with a complaint, said that if Putin demands results at the front, and at the same time does not want to go into details, then we must rely on the leadership of the military bloc and give the opportunity to act, and not restrict everything.

Despite Patrushev’s statement, the military did not admit their involvement in the incident. In the end, Putin decided that there were many benefits from the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP, although there were negative consequences, but it was necessary to act according to the circumstances. At the same time, he strictly warned the military leadership to coordinate such operations with him in the future.

By the end of the meeting, Putin looked very tired and exhausted. Having closed the meeting, Putin turned to the doctors on duty for help and did not return to business until the evening.
