These situations don't seem to sink in because they have hired lobbyists and politicians to advise them. All trust in our institutions is long gone like a fart in the wind. We the people now only trust ourselves, not the media, the government, our churches, public schools, hospitals, and banks.
Not a good omen of things to come. So much so, I think that's the plan.
