“Desperate air strike attempts by Russian Su-34 fighter jet on Ukrainian-backed forces who had settled at Grayvoron checkpoint in Belgorod region.

Su-34 flies at ultra-low altitude to drop high-explosive free-falling bombs.

The target was clearly not hit.”

This took place a few days ago during the raid of the pro-Ukrainian Russian volunteers on Belgorod region.

Thanks for the ping

Here's some additional info:

The bombs are "retarded" (high drag), not free-falling.

Here's a video from Vietnam showing Mk-82 Snakeye:

It's shocking the pilots missed the target(s). Low altitude/high drag deliveries are the easiest for hitting the target.

The second aircraft dropped his bombs far to the left of the first aircraft's bombs. This is to avoid the bomb fragments from the first aircraft's bombs. They can take up to 30 seconds to fall to the ground.

We used a "rule of thumb" for follow on bombs: 30 seconds or 3000 feet offset.

The Su-34s dispensed self-protection flares during the delivery. The flares can prevent a MANPAD launch. However, if the MANPAD is launched prior to flares, it could "reject" the flares and still hit the aircraft.

The video was taken by a UKR drone monitoring the border crossing.

Perhaps the drone operator was passing real-time info to the "Russian volunteers" on the ground.
