I remember when Thomas sided with the government in a case where the police obtained a suspect’s mobile phone data without a warrant. Raised all kinds of hell here on FR, but he applied the law correctly.

Not very likely. If the rule that the it would go back to Minnesota law which requires the owner tombs reimbursed for the equity after the sale.
But the court is not going to review the case to that detail. They are going to look at the constitutionality of a law that allows confiscation of an asset (equity) without due process and compensation.
