World War III Watch: Russian Pilot Tries to ‘Dogfight’ American Jets to Provoke US

A Russian pilot tried to ‘dogfight’ American jets over Syria in an effort to provoke the US.

Russian pilots have been buzzing US fighter jets over the last several weeks.

This is the new norm under a Joe Biden presidency.

A nuclear power is trying to provoke the US and draw us into World War 3.

In March two Russian Su-27 aircraft attacked a US Reaper drone and dumped fuel on the drone over the Black Sea.

CNN reported:

Russian pilots tried to “dogfight” US jets over Syria, according to a spokesman for US Central Command, part of a recent pattern of more aggressive behavior.

The attempts have happened in several of the most recent instances of aggressive behavior from Russian pilots, Col. Joe Buccino said.

The Russian pilots do not appear to be trying to shoot down American jets, a US official told CNN, but they may be trying to “provoke” the US and “draw us into an international incident.”

In military aviation, dogfighting is engaging in aerial combat, often at relatively close ranges.

A video released by US Central Command from April 2 shows a Russian SU-35 fighter jet conducting an “unsafe and unprofessional” intercept of a US F-16 fighter jet.

Yes, I remember that. The Russians obviously lack honor... to say the very least.

“a Syrian oil field owned by Conoco.”

Good to know why our troops are there.

Ukraine ping

Thanks, jmacusa. The epilogue is well worth repeating. This is about the incident in Syria where Russian troops advancing upon US troops were rebuffed. A follow-up incident occurred some time later.

[In 2018 some 500 hundred Wagner mercenaries , with Russian artillery support tried seizing a Syrian oil field owned by Conoco.

The Russians started firing on a US special Forces base. As part of a demilitarized demarcation line and agreements between Russia and the US there would constant communication between the two forces so there wouldn’t be any exchanges between the two .

When the Russians starting dropping rounds around this US outpost it’s commander immediately got on the horn with his Russian counterpart and asked what the hell were they trying to do, were they deliberately firing on the US outpost?

Russians, besides being thieves excel at lying. Despite the Russian denials rounds continued to fall on US troops.

Within minutes American artillery, F22 Raptors and B52s started laying down the hate and eliminated half the Russian force within minutes.

It was so bad the Russian commander got on the phone with his US counterpart and asked for a cease fire.

True to Ivan’s stupidity the Russians and Syrians tried about a month later, organizing an armored column as they had previously done.

They were spotted by a US Reaper drone and the US commander again called his Russian counterpart and warned him they get the crap beat out of them again if they tired anything.

Within minutes of the phone call the Russians backed off.]

We have no business flying over Syria. It’s insane. We just keep pissing people/countries off.

Flightradar24 can only track aircraft that use ADS-B and/or Mode S transponders and that can be tracked via multilateration.

Military aircraft including drones typically fly MARSA without a transponder.

“It’s only a matter of time before someone makes a mistake.”

I think our enemies are avoiding confrontation with us, letting us squabble among ourselves over issues such as abortion and multiple genders, letting us be polluted by unproductive and dangerous immigrants, watching as our government borrows and spends in a manner that weakens us.

As time passes we become easier prey.

Uhm... I heard they shut off the public transponder reports.

I notice a lot fewer US military aircraft over the past 6 weeks compared to earlier. Either that or the Europeans are flying more. Lots of RAF, Armee d’Air, Luftwaffe even Italian, Spanish and Belgian Air Component traffic.

Maybe we’re switching to all electric aircraft?

Syria’s oil is a sideshow. Syria stands in the way of pipelines from KSA and Qatar to Turkey and on to Europe. These pipelines would have broken Russia’s control of Europe’s energy. That is why the west started a civil war in Syria. It’s been a disaster.

If we could go back to the days of Bush, Code Pink, red hands in the Condoleezza Rice’s face; you could not find a bigger group of America haters than we have here right now. Look folks, Biden’s in charge or his handlers, but that’s going to end. Let’s not throw the Baby (USA) out with the Bath Water (Deep State)!

Even so, I think the Iraq War was a mistake; especially trying to make Western-style countries of them. However, Foggy Bottom has been advocating third world since the Wilson administration, and we finally shut them up about it. What I mean is nation-building was once the rage but not so anymore, mostly because of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The monetary supply we’ve built to our benefit—that’s correct. But whose benefit should we have built it, given our place as the sole undamaged industrial power after WWII? Did the Marshall Plan mean nothing to Europe? A rebuilt Japan? You CAN build a nation out of a great civilization, but it doesn’t work in the shithole countries (hat tip DJ Trump)! Anyway, no new wars from either country? We’ve had some great accomplishments due to Bretton Woods and other agreements. It’s too bad some here think America and Americans shouldn’t benefit from their foreign and monetary policies...

Yup. Sometimes I’ll see RC-135 Rivet Joint missions over the continental USA, and RAF RC-135’s over Europe on plane finder.

Lots of others like Army RC-12s, Navy C-26, etc.

Yes, the RQ-4 Global Hawks were, as were Rivet Joints and P-8s flying over the Black Sea. Now they shut off once they leave NATO airspace, and sometimes don’t squawk at all. The MQ-9 Reapers (like the one that was downed) were never broadcasting ADS-B.

I’m not an idiot. I’m posting what I have seen, with my own 2 eyes. I have seen drones, surveillance aircraft from several different countries, Blackhawks, C 141s, refuelers of several different types, etc. etc. I don’t know why aircraft in that theater transmit, but they do. I’ve seen it for months. I’ve seen drones flying over the Black Sea for hours and hours in a circular pattern. My comment was because I SAW drones flying a pattern regularly over the Black Sea, until that one went down, and now they don’t. They fly a pattern over south Romania now. You can see them on Flightradar 24 plain as day.
